Rengcol Newsletter: Written by Amaresh Tripathy on 3 Oct 1998.

It was ironic that the fateful day was none other than Vishwakarma Puja day, a day which symbolises anything but destruction. It was on this day that we chose to to attack IGH and burn the dispensary. We saw two of our friends die in less than 24 hours. Friends with whom we had shared a part of our lives. Nobody will be able to comprehend the anguish of their parents but for us, for all we know that it could very well have been our parents instead of theirs.

It was a day when the Principal feared to face his own students and had to ask for Police protection! Ten days earlier we had celebrated Teachers day!

A day when students decided to show their anger by attacking the Emergency ward of a hospital and burning medicines of their own dispensary.

A day when police treated the so called future of the country as if they were dealilng with hardcore criminals.

Let me not do any analysis as to who was at fault, for I know it won't be a fair one.

I do not know who was at fault, the authorities, the students or the police.

But all I can say is that it was unfair to Lord Viswakarma.

Comments are welcome.
